An Ongoing Search for a Sense of Home

A very large body of work, created over four years, that explores house-studded vistas. Oscillation between extremes is reflected in the paintings - depictions of architecture versus nature, figurative representations alongside abstract interpretations, frenetic palette knife smears as well as meticulous brush strokes. These, and other contrasts identified in the paintings, reveal qualities which are only seemingly contradictory - Soft and rough, real and fictitious, proximate and alienated. This motion, towards the union of polar opposites, becomes a material that directs the process of research and creation.
