the Masters
A series of seven paintings created for the exhibition "Between the Salon Walls", curated by Yael Rose Gez. The exhibition explored the dialogue between contemporary artists and the art historical canon, whether in technique, themes, aesthetics, or conceptions of beauty. This series of paintings responded to seven iconic landscape paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries. Each of the locations depicted in these masterpieces was matched with a corresponding place in Israel, so that the Israeli landscape was painted as a tribute to the original work. In fact, this was an imitation of the process of artificial intelligence, where two images were merged into one, but executed by hand rather than digitally.
